50 ANSU students renounce cultism

AWKA�Fifty students of Anambra State University, Uli have renounced their membership of different secret cults at a special ceremony organised by the management of the University.

Ten students renounced their membership of secret cults at the Uli main campus of the University, while 40 renounced their membership at the Igbariam campus.

Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Ifeanacho Orajaka said at the ceremony, that the remaining cult members, who refused to renounce their membership would be identified from the list of cult members compiled by the institution, adding that they would be expelled from the institution.

Students who are not members of any secret cult, were made to renew their oath of not belonging to any secret cult group. They also resolved not to be members as long as they remained students of the university and were made to complete and sign declaration forms.

Prof. Orajaka, said the exercise was the second since the establishment of the institution and his tenure as the Vice Chancellor, adding that the university administration in the first exercise dwelt at length on dangers associated with membership of secret cults.

�An appreciable number of students heeded the directive of the University administration and renounced membership of their various cult groups. Management, in appreciation of the courage exhibited by the students, who heeded its directive, magnanimously pardoned and welcomed them back into the University community as the father in the Bible pardoned and welcomed his prodigal son,� said Orajaka.
